An Easy, Even HB In Jumbo Format
Staedtler Mars Lumograph jumbo 100J-HB gives you 6 jumbo pencils in HB, the hardest and lightest of the five jumbo degrees.
HB is the balanced grade: a mid grey that does not smudge much and keeps its point well. In jumbo form it is a good choice for confident outlines on large sheets, for mapping a composition before shading with softer jumbos, and for anyone who prefers a thicker pencil in the hand.
The lead is approximately 5.3 mm in diameter, according to Staedtler, set in a big barrel they call ergonomic for comfortable handling. They also note even, repeatable strokes, smooth tone and a lead that resists breaking.
Pair it with the 4B and 8B jumbos for a quick three-grade drawing kit. Staedtler recommend the 5134 double-hole tub sharpener, and state the pencils are made in Germany.
