The Softest Jumbo Grade For Bold Blacks
Staedtler Mars Lumograph jumbo 100J-8B is a box of 6 thick drawing pencils in 8B, the softest degree Staedtler make in the jumbo line.
8B leaves the heaviest, darkest mark of the five jumbo degrees. Laid flat, the roughly 5.3 mm lead covers a large area in a few strokes; on its tip, it gives thick, velvety lines with plenty of character. It fits expressive figure work, night scenes and strong graphic contrast.
Staedtler describe tonal transitions as smooth with a subtle lustre, and say the lead stands up to sharpening and drawing pressure. The oversized barrel is intended to stay comfortable in the hand during extended work.
Because 8B is so soft it wears quickly and smudges readily, so keep a sheet of scrap paper under your drawing hand. Made in Germany, according to Staedtler.
