Deep 6B Tone With An Extra Thick Lead
Staedtler Mars Lumograph jumbo 100J-6B arrives as a box of 6 pencils in 6B, one of the two softest degrees in the jumbo line.
With a lead of roughly 5.3 mm and a soft 6B grade, this pencil puts down dark graphite fast. It handles shadow masses, dramatic contrast in still life, and loose warm-up drawings where speed matters more than precision.
Staedtler say the jumbo barrel is large and easy to hold during long sessions, and that the graphite moves smoothly between tones with a soft metallic sheen. The lead is made to resist breakage both in the sharpener and on the page.
Only 8B is softer in the jumbo range. Staedtler point to their 5134 sharpener and the Mars plastic 526 50 eraser as companions, and state the pencils are made in Germany.
