The Spirax 512 in blue is an A4 hard cover notebook with 200 pages of 7mm ruled paper and a red margin, bound with twin wire along the side.
A4 gives a full width line for longer sentences and enough space to sketch a diagram, paste in a printout folded once, or rule up a table beside your notes. Lecture notes, training courses and detailed minutes all benefit from the extra room over a smaller book.
A large notebook with soft covers flops about when held. The 512 uses rigid boards front and back, which ACCO describe as a firm writing surface that resists dog-earing and distortion, so it can be propped on a knee in a lecture theatre. Reference pages bracket the ruled section in the studio photos: time zones, schedule and phone numbers in front, size charts and a card pocket behind. ACCO throw in a 4-year calendar and date stamp as well.
