A rigid pine panel for paint, pours and mixed media
Zart Wooden Painting Panel 20 x 20cm, supplier code WP920, is a rigid 3mm pine panel on 17mm deep braces from The Creative School Supply Company, giving a firm painting surface.
The Creative School Supply Company describes a smooth, firm surface that accepts most paints and mediums. Priming is not necessary for some applications, but the panel can be primed with gesso. The supplier suggests working on raw wood for bleeding and dispersion effects, or priming for a more controllable surface. It lists the panel as suitable for all media, gesso or sanding.
A rigid panel helps acrylic pours and epoxy resin layers succeed, the supplier explains, because colours will not pool in the middle as they might on a stretched canvas. It is also suggested for printing, collage, drawing and mixed media, and as a prebuilt alternative to oil painting on Masonite.
The supplier also suggests gluing Yupo or watercolour paper onto the panel to make a new surface. Pair it with gesso and wide flat brushes, and browse canvas boards, art paper and canvas, painting supplies and Zart.
