Yellow Sticky Notes
There is a practical reason the standard colour never changed: yellow carries enough contrast against white to be seen at a glance and dark enough handwriting still reads on it. It also shows clearly on a photocopy where paler colours vanish. Keep one colour as the default and reserve others for coding. Adhesive is low tack, so nothing is held by these. See sticky notes, coloured sticky notes and page markers.
