The Zions VRB vehicle record book logs what a work vehicle travels and what it costs to keep on the road, over 36 pages in duplicate that need no carbon paper.
Each page is headed with the vehicle number, engine number, registration, make and model, plus reminders for the last grease, grease due, last oil change and oil change due. Below that, 15 lines take the date, odometer reading, trip number or destination, distance, oil and fuel in litres, repair and maintenance details, the amount paid and the GST component.
Because every entry makes its own copy, one set can stay in the vehicle while the other goes to the office or the bookkeeper. Zions pitch the book at salespeople, delivery runs and company vehicles, and at keeping track of expenses for taxation purposes. How those records are used in a claim is a question for your accountant.
