Zions No. 27 is a hard covered takings and expenditure book that turns each day of till figures into a weekly balance of trading, one week to a page.
Retailers who buy stock for resale need more than a takings tally. This book asks for the number of sales, till total, cash and credit sales, cash expenses, banking and GST for every day, then brings in purchases of goods for resale by supplier and the value of stock carried from the previous week. Zions sum it up as cash and credit sales with stock cost figures and weekly trading balances.
Running down the right side of the page is a list of expenses and allowances such as wages, casuals, rent, maintenance, insurance and gas or electricity, with space for remarks. The weekly balance of trading then works through total sales, end of week stock, gross profit, expenses and net profit, adding the previous week to give a running cumulative figure.
