200kg, and the only one in the range an adult can stand on
A wooden rocking balance board, 81cm long x 32cm wide x 18cm high, rated to 200kg.
The load rating is the reason to buy this one. Every other balance product we stock stops between 60kg and 100kg, which quietly rules out secondary students, teachers demonstrating, and two children on it at once. At 200kg this one does not.
It also does not stay one thing. Turned over, propped, or leaned it becomes a slide, a seesaw, a step, a bridge, a rocker, a tunnel and a seat - which is why one of these ends up used more days a term than a purpose-built rocker that only rocks.
Wood rather than plastic changes the feel: it is heavier, it does not skid across a hall floor the way a light board does, and it takes a scuff without looking damaged.
Who it suits: MTA note it is used with children with ADHD and autism for balance, motor skills and coordination, and recommend supervising younger children with low muscle tone or poor coordination at first. That is sensible whoever is on it.
No age rating is published. We have asked.
Where it sits on weight. Load limits across our balance range run from 60kg to 200kg and they are not interchangeable - the crocodile stones and the two Weplay seesaws stop at 60kg, the river stones at 80kg, the Gonge Build N' Balance system at 100kg, and the wooden rocking board at 200kg. Check the figure against the students who will actually stand on it, especially in upper primary.
