A Lidded Ashtray That Holds Ash in a Breeze
Compass 65070501 is a square black melamine ashtray with a removable lid that covers the butts and ash below, so wind across an outdoor table has little to pick up.
It measures 115 x 115 mm and stands 50 mm high. Weatherdon describe the body as durable melamine. The lid has four moulded cigarette rests around a round central hole; ash and butts fall through into the base, and a raised cone in the middle of the base helps put butts out. To empty it, lift the lid away and tip the base into a bin.
An open ashtray on a windy balcony scatters ash across tables and guests. A covered one keeps that mess contained, and melamine is lighter to carry and less likely to shatter than glass if dropped. Black suits bars, courtyards and rooftop areas with dark furniture.
