Staedtler's FIMO kids form and play Dino, 8034 07 LZ, is a clay set for building a small herd of dinosaurs, among them a horned one, one with back plates and a big upright one, plus a prehistoric scene to stand them in.
Dinosaurs reward patience with detail. Rows of plates, a frill, pointed horns and clawed feet all come from rolling small cones and pressing them on, and the modelling stick helps fix and texture each part. The booklet breaks every model into steps, and Staedtler grade the projects with a 1 to 3 star skill level.
The four 42 g blocks in the current set are red, green, light brown and brown. Children can also blend them, for example a little green into light brown for a mossy hide.
To fix the shapes, the dinosaurs spend half an hour in an oven at 110°C. The printed age warning sets the minimum at 8, with supervision.
