The Colour That Gives Clay Figures Their Eyes
FIMO kids 8030-9 is one 42 g block of black oven-bake modelling clay from Staedtler, made soft enough for children to shape without a fight.
Black does a lot of small jobs in a clay project. It makes pupils, noses and smiles, the wheels on a toy car, stripes on a bee and the outline that lifts a bright figure off the background. Because a little goes a long way, many families keep a black block alongside a set and dip into it for details.
The block is scored into 8 equal portions, which makes it easy to break off just what a child needs and to blend a grey with white. Staedtler recommend FIMO kids for ages 8 and over. Finished pieces go into the kitchen oven for 30 minutes at 110°C, a job for an adult.
Pair it with white from the FIMO shelf, or look through clay for modelling and art and craft supplies.
