A Warm Light Brown For Miniature Food And Fur
Caramel, colour 7 in Staedtler's FIMO soft 8020 range, is a warm light brown supplied as a 57 g standard block of oven-bake clay.
Miniature food makers use a caramel tone constantly: biscuit bases, bread crusts, pie tops, waffles and toffee drips all start here. It also works for teddy bears, dogs, foxes and other furry figures, and for the warm timber look of tiny furniture or a dolls house floor.
In Staedtler's neutral line up it falls between sahara, a sand beige, and the much darker chocolate. A little chocolate pressed into caramel deepens it to a toasted crust; a pinch of white lifts it towards a latte shade. Each block is divided into 8 portions, so a recipe can be repeated by counting pieces.
FIMO soft is ready to use straight from the pack. Bake finished pieces at 110°C for 30 minutes, then seal with a FIMO varnish if you want a glossy, glazed look on food miniatures.
