Emerald, The Deep Blue Green Of The Soft Range
Emerald is FIMO soft colour 56: a deep, slightly blue green in Staedtler's 57 g standard block of oven-hardening clay.
Jewellery makers like it for gem tone earrings and pendants, where it pairs well with gold leaf or a gloss varnish. It also suits holly and pine on Christmas decorations, fern fronds, succulents and the darker leaves in a floral piece, with tropical green kept for the brighter new growth.
Staedtler's notes pitch the clay at beginners as well as hobby artists, and the 8 scored portions are there to make blending easy. Emerald mixed with a little white turns into a muted sage; with peppermint it becomes a teal.
Bake in a domestic oven at 110°C for 30 minutes. Staedtler state the clay is made in Germany.
