White FIMO Soft, The Base For Pastels And Clean Details
FIMO soft 8020-0 is plain white oven-bake clay from Staedtler in the 57 g standard block, the colour most makers run out of first.
White earns its place in two ways. On its own it makes snowmen, clouds, ghosts, sheep, daisies, eyes and teeth, and the white half of marbled or striped canes. As a mixer it turns any FIMO soft colour into a pastel: a little red becomes pink, a little blue becomes baby blue, and apple green softens to pistachio.
Staedtler's 8 portion layout makes those mixes repeatable, because you can count portions of white against portions of colour and write the ratio down. FIMO soft is sold ready to use, smooth and soft.
Bake at 110°C for 30 minutes, following Staedtler. Keep white wrapped in its resealable pack between sessions, and clean hands and tools before you start so darker colours do not mark it. For bulk work Staedtler also make the 454 g large block 8021-0.
