Warm Red-Brown For Autumn Jewellery
FIMO leather-effect rust (8010-749) is a warm red-brown oven-bake clay in a 57 g block, made to resemble leather once hardened.
Rust has the earthy tone of tanned hide, which suits statement earrings, chunky rings, knotted cords and autumn decorations. Thin rolled ropes can be braided after baking, according to Staedtler, so a three-strand plait of rust, ochre and nut makes a convincing leather-look band.
The clay comes divided into 8 portions and is compatible with FIMO soft, effect and professional. Pressing a texture or stamp into the surface before baking adds detail that the leather finish picks up well.
Once shaped, it needs 30 minutes in the oven at 130°C, per the wrapper.
