Staedtler 61 14610C is the Design Journey Watercolour Set: 12 watercolour pencils and 3 watercolour graphite pencils, plus a water brush, eraser and metal sharpener, 18 pieces in a window box.
The colour pencils are Staedtler 146 10C, a hexagonal pencil with a watercolour lead. Staedtler say it gives vibrant effects on watercolour paper with water and a brush, and bright colour in dry techniques as well. The 12 shades in this box run from yellow, peach and orange through red, magenta and purple to two blues, two greens, brown and black.
Three blue-barrelled graphite pencils, shown on the swatch card as 4B, 6B and 8B, add soluble greys for sketching and shading. A water-filled brush means you can paint without a jar, and the eraser and sharpener make the set complete enough for a first outing.
Staedtler make the 146 10C in 48 colours and suggest the Noris 512 002 tub sharpener or the Mars 510 25 double-hole model. Staedtler mark the set Made in Germany with a pictogram on their page.
