A Compass Set That Shuts Into Its Own Case
The Staedtler Noris 550 60 S8 is an 8 piece school maths set built around the Noris 550 compass, stored in a flip open plastic case.
Staedtler's Australian catalogue lists the contents as a metal compass with a self-centring mechanism and short needle safety point, a single hole sharpener, an eraser, a pencil, two set squares (45 degree and 60 degree), a 15cm clear plastic ruler and a 180 degree protractor. Their website adds that the sharpener is the 510 50 and the pencil is a small one.
The compass is the Noris 550, which Staedtler pitch at students doing their first circle constructions in class. It has an obtuse-angled safety needle, a maximum circle of approx. 300 mm diameter and a length of 124 mm. The hinged lid case has a ruler built in and closes over the contents for carrying in a school bag.
