School Compass With Universal Adapter For A Pencil Or Pen
Staedtler 550 60 is the Noris school compass supplied with a lead part, a universal adapter and a lead box, all in a case with a hinged lid.
The universal adapter is the difference from the plain 550 50. With it a student can swap the lead for a pencil, coloured pencil or pen and draw circles in whatever they are already using, which helps with colour work and with students who struggle to keep a thin lead sharp. Staedtler's catalogue index calls this version the school compass with hinged leg, and the photo shows the joint on the lead leg where the adapter fits.
Everything else follows the Noris school pattern: an obtuse-angled safety needle, a length of 124 mm and a maximum circle diameter of approximately 300 mm. The case has a ruler printed along it.
