Metal Centre Wheel Compass With An Extension Bar
Staedtler 550 02 is the Noris metal school compass with centre wheel, supplied with an extension bar, universal adapter and lead box in a case with a hinged lid.
The centre wheel is the reason to choose it: Staedtler pair it with a quick-setting mechanism, so the radius is set by the wheel rather than by pulling the legs apart by hand. Both the lead and needle legs are hinged, and Staedtler list the lead part and needle as interchangeable, with a shouldered needle point.
The extension bar is what separates this from the 550 01. It lengthens the reach for circles too big for the compass alone, useful on A3 sheets, technical drawing boards and poster work. A universal adapter and lead box complete the set.
