Blue Ink In A Three-Sided Click Pen
Staedtler 4230 M-3 is a box of ten blue ball 4230 retractable ballpoints, each with a triangular barrel and a medium 1.0mm tip.
Plenty of people simply prefer blue for handwriting, and many teachers ask students to write their work in it. Staedtler shape the 4230 barrel as a rounded triangle so the fingers settle into the same grip each time, and they say this makes for relaxed and easy writing. In their 2024 Australian trade catalogue they list the pen as retractable, with a medium tip set in a dark tint barrel, and describe the writing as particularly smooth.
The same catalogue lists the ink as indelible, conforming to ISO 12757-2, and marks the pen airplane safe, meaning pressure equalisation stops it leaking during a flight. That makes the blue 4230 a sensible pen for a travel bag or a laptop sleeve. Staedtler Australia supply this article in boxes of 10, which is how we sell it.
