Earth Brown Calligraphy With A Heritage Look
Staedtler 375-790 is umber, a deep earth brown in the pigment calligraphy pen range that gives lettering the warm, aged tone of old handwriting.
Brown ink has a long history on paper, and umber brings that feel to modern projects: family tree charts, certificates and awards with a traditional border, recipe cards, vintage style labels, kraft gift tags and letters on cream stock. It is gentler than black on a pale page and still dark enough for small text to read clearly.
For a sepia sketch and lettering page, draw in umber, let it dry, then float thin watercolour over it. Staedtler say the dried Multi Ink is waterproof and can be painted over without smudging.
The tip is a fixed chisel of about 2.0 mm, according to Staedtler, giving thick and thin lines from the same pen. They also state the ink is lightfast and does not show through paper.
