A Mid Warm Grey That Gives Form Its Shadow Side
Staedtler 372-84 is the warm grey medium soft brush pen, supplied here as a listing of ten.
Once the palest tone is in place, a drawing needs a middle value to turn a flat shape into a solid one. Warm grey medium does that job for weathered timber, tree bark, sandstone, a dog or horse coat, old paper and the shaded side of a face drawn in warm light. It is dark enough to read clearly at arm's length without the harshness of black.
The soft 372 tip makes it easy to swing from a broad shaded band to a fine crease line in one stroke. Multi Ink is translucent, so 84 over 840 builds a smooth two step shadow, and Staedtler state the ink is permanent, waterproof and free of bleed-through once dry, which keeps journal pages clean on the reverse side.
