Six Greys And A Black On Staedtler's Softest Brush
The Staedtler 372 C6 box gathers every colour of the 372 pigment soft brush pen, five greys plus intense black, in one hanging box.
Staedtler aim the 372 at depth and shading, and this box is built for exactly that. Two warm greys lean slightly brown for skin, wood, paper and interiors, three cool greys lean blue for metal, stone, sky and night, and intense black closes the scale. Working from the lightest grey to black lets you shade a whole drawing in steps, add shadow under a coloured illustration, or keep an entire sketchbook in tone. The soft tip goes from fine point to broad sweep with pressure, useful for blocking in large shadows quickly.
Multi Ink, the pigment India ink behind the range, is translucent, so greys layer over colour and over each other. Staedtler rate it as highly lightfast, waterproof and permanent once dry, with no bleed to the reverse of the page.
