This listing is ten Staedtler 371-6 pigment brush pens in colour 6 violet, a clear, saturated purple from the Pigment Arts range.
Violet earns its place in a pen roll in three ways. Florals come first: irises, lavender heads, violas and jacaranda blossom all start with a purple like this. Then night scenes, where violet layered over 36 indigo blue gives galaxy skies and dusk horizons some depth. The third use is less obvious. Illustrators often shade with violet instead of grey, because a purple shadow under yellow or orange looks alive where grey can look muddy.
Next to its neighbours, 6 violet is bolder than 620 lavender light and bluer than 61 red violet. Staedtler also put it in the 371 C6-2 Blues and Violets box and the 371 C24 assorted set.
The ink is Staedtler Multi Ink: water-based, pigmented and translucent, with lightfastness rated colour by colour on the blue wool and grey scales. Once dry it is permanent and waterproof, and Staedtler say it will not bleed through thin sketchbook paper.
