A First Box Of Pigment Brush Pens In Everyday Colours
Staedtler 371 C6-9 Basic Colours holds six pigment brush pens in yellow, red, blue, green, brown and intense black, all filled with Staedtler Multi Ink.
Most people starting out with brush pens want a handful of clear, familiar shades rather than a drawer of subtle tints, and that is what this box gives. The three primaries layer into oranges, purples and greens, the green covers foliage straight away, brown looks after wood, hair and earth, and intense black gives crisp outlines and lettering that holds its own against the colours. A comic panel, a greeting card or a colouring page are all within reach.
As Staedtler describe it, Multi Ink is a translucent India ink on a water base, coloured with high grade pigments. Once fully dry it is permanent and waterproof and can be painted over without smudging, so an inked outline can take a watercolour wash afterwards. Staedtler also state that it does not bleed or show through paper, and that the lightfastness of every colour is classified on the blue wool and grey scales.
The nib has medium firmness: press for a broad stroke, ease off for a hairline.
