Staedtler 37 BK4-99 is the Intense Black Set: one each of the pigment brush pen, pigment soft brush pen, pigment calligraphy pen and pigment pen, all four in intense black.
Keeping the colour the same makes the difference between the tips obvious. The brush pen has a medium-strength tip for controlled thick and thin strokes, the soft brush pen bends further for dramatic swells and shadow effects, the calligraphy pen gives a broad edge that Staedtler put at about 2.0mm, and the pigment pen lays a steady line of about 1.0mm for contours and hatching. It is a practical way to test which tip suits your hand before buying colour sets, and a complete black ink kit for a sketchbook or travel pouch.
All four share Multi Ink, which Staedtler call permanent and waterproof once dry, fast-drying and highly lightfast. Black drawn first can be painted over with watercolour or brush pen colour after it has set, without smudging.
