Thirty Six Permanent Colours, Each With Two Tips
Staedtler 3187 TB36 is a hanging wallet of 36 double-ended permanent pens, every pen carrying a broad nib and a fine nib at opposite ends.
Staedtler give the line widths as approx. 3.0 mm and approx. 0.5 mm, and the wallet marks them fine and ultrafine. Fill a shape with the broad end, then flip the pen and outline or letter with the narrow one without changing colour.
The difference from a water-based colouring pen is the ink. These are permanent, and Staedtler rate them for designs on almost all surfaces; the wallet icons show a disc, cardboard, a brick wall and a glass. That is why the set turns up at pebble painting, upcycling and card making tables as much as in sketchbooks.
The colour chips along the wallet run through warm and cool families to browns, greys, black and a group of neons. Staedtler do not publish the colour names for this article.
