Superfine Blue As A Second Coding Colour
Staedtler 313-3 gives you ten blue Lumocolor permanent pens with the superfine S tip, approx. 0.4 mm.
Blue is the colour most teams adopt as their second code beside black: a second batch, a second shift, revised measurements on a drawing, the client copy of a sample or the incoming side of a stock check. At superfine width it writes small enough for vial caps, slide ends, cable markers and the margin of a printed transparency.
Staedtler class the 313 as a universal pen, workable on almost all surfaces including overhead film, with permanent ink that becomes waterproof and smudge-resistant within seconds. The ink has a low odour and contains no xylene or toluene, according to their catalogue. Leave the cap off during a long labelling run and the DRY SAFE tip will still be wet days later.
Plan around one point: the lightfast rating belongs to black only, so blue suits indoor records better than labels in sun. Staedtler state the pen is made in Germany, with a locked tip and PP barrel and cap, and they list a blue refill pot for the range.
