One Chisel Tip, Thin To Thick Strokes
Staedtler 308 C2-9 is the chisel tip black pigment liner, drawing from about 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm, sold as a box of 10.
Hold the flat edge across the stroke and you get a broad line of up to about 2.0 mm; turn the pen and the narrow edge gives a fine line of around 0.3 mm. That thick and thin contrast makes it a favourite for faux calligraphy, headings and hand lettering, architectural style lettering on plans, and quick blocky fills in sketches.
The ink is the same black pigment ink as the round pigment liners, which Staedtler class as indelible and lightfast, waterproof on paper and, in Australia, acid free. It does not bleed under a highlighter, erases on drafting film and, per Staedtler, can stay uncapped for at least 12 hours. It travels well too, with pressure equalisation against leaks on aircraft.
