A Twelve-Colour Starter Set Of Square Soft Pastels
Staedtler 2430 C12 is a cardboard box of 12 soft pastel chalks in assorted colours, a first set for trying dry pastel without committing to a large palette.
The twelve colours on Staedtler chart cover white, a skin-tone peach, pink, yellow, crimson, red, violet, a deep blue, sky blue, green, brown and black. That is enough to mix by layering: rub yellow over blue for greens, or pink over white for soft highlights, and learn how the medium behaves before buying more.
Staedtler describe the 2430 as brilliant colours with a high degree of light fastness that mark softly and blend easily. Each stick is square, 10 x 10 x 65 mm, so the edge draws a line and the flat side covers a broad area. A paper sleeve keeps fingers cleaner, and Staedtler recommend fixing finished drawings.
The small box suits school art rooms, holiday sketching and adults testing pastel for the first time. Larger 24 and 36 boxes use the same sticks when you want a wider choice.
