Twenty-Four Shades For Detail Work
Staedtler 185 C24 is a box of 24 Noris colour coloured pencils in assorted colours.
Twenty-four colours is where a set starts to feel like an art kit rather than a school basic. Staedtler's list for this article includes a white for highlights on coloured paper, a deep bordeaux, cobalt blue alongside the standard blue, olive green for bush and gum leaves, burnt sienna for earth and brick, and light orange and light grey for soft skin and shadow tones. That spread makes landscapes, portraits and nature journals look far less flat.
Every pencil is the hexagonal Noris colour 185 with its striped barrel. Staedtler describe a velvet soft surface, a smooth gliding lead and high break-resistance, and the sharpeners they suggest are their tub models 512 002 and 512 128.
