Staedtler karat aquarell 125 M36 is a metal tin of 36 watercolour pencils in assorted colours from the karat aquarell 125 line.
Staedtler's own catalogue text describes the 125 as a high quality colour pencil, hexagonal like a classic pencil, with a lead that dissolves in water. The lead is especially soft and colour-intensive, they say, for anything from delicate to strikingly bright effects with water and brush on watercolour paper, and the colours stay radiant in dry techniques too.
The tin opens to two trays of pencils under a printed lid; our gallery includes a numbered chart of 36 shades. The pencils are silver with a colour-matched cap, and Staedtler show MADE IN GERMANY printed on the barrel. They make karat aquarell in up to 60 colours, and we also stock tins of 12, 24, 48 and 60.
For sharpening Staedtler suggest the Mars 510 25 double-hole sharpener or the 513 001 double-hole tub. Use watercolour paper for wet work so the paper takes the water.
