Faint Guide Lines That Stay Sharp
Staedtler tradition 110-3H is a box of 12 hard pencils for marks you want to barely see: guide lines, grids and fine construction work.
At 3H the lead is one step harder than 2H and leaves a very pale, thin line. Lettering artists use a grade like this to rule baselines that disappear under ink, and drafters use it for construction lines that sit underneath the finished drawing. The point lasts, so long straight lines stay even from end to end.
Staedtler credit the tradition's strength to a special lead formulation and a super-bonded lead and call it unbelievably break-resistant. Each barrel is red and black, lettered in gold with STAEDTLER tradition 3H, and Staedtler state the pencils are made in Germany.
Press lightly with hard grades. Heavy pressure can groove soft paper and leave marks that are hard to remove.
