A Yellow Dry Marker That Shows Up On Dark Surfaces
Staedtler Lumocolor omnichrom 108-1 is a yellow, water-soluble dry marker built as a wood-cased hexagonal pencil, sold in a box of 12 for workshops, sites and studios.
Staedtler say it gives an opaque mark on almost every surface, dark and see-through ones included, and name paper, glass, metal, plastic, stone, leather and wood. Yellow is the colour to choose when the material is dark, such as black plastic, painted steel or tinted glass, where a black or blue mark would disappear. The box itself calls it a highlighter pencil, and on paper it does not bleed through.
Because the lead is water-soluble, marks can be wiped off many smooth surfaces, including plastic, metal and lacquer, and Staedtler say it washes out of many textiles. That makes it handy for cut lines, setting-out marks and temporary numbering that should not be there at handover. Staedtler also rate it for a high level of lightfastness and pitch it at users in industry and trade.
For a fresh point Staedtler name two sharpeners, the 512 002 tub model and the Mars 510 25 with two holes. Staedtler state it is made in Germany.
