Six Lumograph Grades Weighted Toward Soft Shading
Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100 G6 is a metal tin of 6 drawing pencils in 8B, 7B, 6B, 4B, 2B and HB, a compact set built around rich darks and blending.
Five of the six degrees are B grades, so the tin leans toward expressive shading, smudged backgrounds and strong contrast rather than technical line work. HB gives you a lighter grade for the first outline; 2B and 4B carry the mid tones; 6B, 7B and 8B lay down the darkest values in portraits, charcoal-style studies and landscape skies.
Staedtler credit the Lumograph with fine graphite grading for even tonal steps, a light metallic lustre, strong resistance to breakage and strokes that repeat uniformly. Leads in this tin measure approx. 3.6 mm for 8B, 7B and 6B, approx. 2.5 mm for 4B and approx. 2.0 mm for 2B and HB. Made in Germany, according to Staedtler.
At six pencils the tin slips into a pencil case or sketchbook bag, which suits travel sketching and students who need a few soft grades without a full studio set.
