Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100-4H is a box of 12 firm pencils for light, controlled lines in plans, diagrams and preparatory drawings.
A 4H point leaves a cool, silvery grey that is easy to read up close yet stays in the background of a finished drawing. Draftspeople use it for floor plans, isometric sketches and dimension lines, and illustrators lay in proportions with it before committing to darker grades.
Staedtler fit the 4H with an approximately 2.0 mm lead, the same diameter they use for every degree from 2B through to 10H. The graphite is described as finely graded, break resistant and able to give uniform, repeatable strokes, which helps when several people work on one set of drawings.
Staedtler state the pencils are made in Germany. Hard leads reward a long, sharp point; Staedtler suggest two sharpeners for it, the metal 510 10 and the 511 001 tub.
