The Hardest Lumograph Degree For Faint, Exact Lines
Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100-10H sits at the hard extreme of the Lumograph scale: a box of 12 pencils that leave a pale, very fine line and keep their point for a long time.
Hard grades hold less soft graphite, so a 10H mark is a light grey and crisp rather than dark. That makes it a marking-out tool: guide lines for lettering, construction lines for technical and architectural drawings, and faint registration marks that disappear under later work.
Like the other degrees from 2B upward to 10H, it has a lead of roughly 2.0 mm according to Staedtler. A very hard point can score soft paper if pressed firmly, so a light touch on smooth, firm paper gives the cleanest line.
Staedtler describe the Lumograph as break resistant, with even, repeatable strokes that reproduce well, and state that it is made in Germany. Keep the needle point sharp with the 510 10 metal sharpener or the 511 001 tub sharpener.
