Playing cards with shape suits and subitising patterns
School Friendly Playing Cards from EDX, supplier code PSB527, are designed for younger children, with face cards replaced by 0, 11, 12 and 13 and suits replaced by shapes.
EDX replaces the four suits with triangles, rectangles, squares and circles, and arranges the shapes on each card in subitising patterns. The cards measure 6 x 9 cm and are only available with a green back. EDX describes the deck as designed for younger children, and the face cards are replaced with 0, 11, 12 and 13.
In place of court cards, every card carries a number, from 0 through to 13. The four suits are shown as triangles, rectangles, squares and circles rather than hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades, and the shapes on each card are set out in subitising patterns, as EDX describes the layout.
Use the deck for small-group number card games and shape recognition activities. Explore more number resources in maths equipment and educational games, browse the EDX Education range or see teacher resources for classroom ideas.
