100 magnets for $60 - the tub you build a term's experiments out of
100 round ceramic magnets, 20mm diameter. 60c each.
These are the workhorse. Not a demonstration piece, not a kit - a hundred plain discs that a whole class can use at once, lose a few of, and still have enough next year.
At 20mm they are big enough to handle and stack, small enough to test what sticks to what across a room full of objects. Most of the practical magnetism curriculum - what is magnetic, what is not, how do poles behave, does the force pass through paper - runs on exactly this and nothing else.
Safety - the supplier's warning, in full and unedited: The intended use of these magnets is for educational purposes only. Adult supervision is required at all times. Not suitable for children under the age of 8. Not suitable for craft projects. Seek immediate medical attention if magnets are swallowed or inhaled. These are strong powered magnets and can cause medical issues if digested. These magnets are not a toy and are not intended for early learning centres or younger age groups in school or learning or unsupervised environments.
Why we are not paraphrasing that. Two or more small magnets swallowed separately can attract through the wall of the bowel and cause a perforation. It is a surgical emergency, not a stomach ache. If you are buying for a prep or early years room, buy the large ferrite block or the giant horseshoe instead - both are too big to swallow.
