The everyday petri dish. Seed germination, crystal growing, sorting small specimens, holding a sample under a magnifier, mixing tiny quantities - the uses that do not involve culturing anything.
These are not described as sterile. The supplier calls them plastic dishes with safety lids and says nothing about sterility. If you are culturing bacteria or fungi, buy the sterile pack of 100 instead - a non-sterile dish means you are growing whatever was already in it as well as what you put there, and the result is not a result.
If you are culturing microbes in a school, the supplier provides no growth medium and no handling guidance with these. Follow your own state or system's guidance and talk to your lab technician about what may be cultured and how plates are disposed of. We are not going to write that policy for you.
For everything that is not microbiology, twenty at 75c each is the cheap and obvious buy.
