Laces that stay tied because they never get tied
100cm elastic laces in black. One size fits kids and adults. Adjustable tension. Water resistant. $5.10.
Tying a shoelace is a genuinely hard motor task, and for some children it stays hard long after everyone stopped mentioning it. These take the task away rather than making it easier - you set the tension once, and the shoe goes on and off like a slip-on from then on.
Who they help: children still learning to tie, children who will always find it hard, anyone who cannot easily bend down, and runners and triathletes who change shoes fast.
Adjustable tension means you set how tight the shoe sits once and it stays that way.
Water resistant and easy to clean, which matters on a school shoe.
They fit any laced shoe, so the shoe the child already owns works.
Two warnings, both from the supplier, and we mean them
These contain latex. The material is elastic latex with ABS plastic ends. Latex allergy is a real and sometimes serious thing in schools, so check before you buy a set for a class. We have asked whether a latex-free version exists.
Choking hazard - small parts. Not for children under 3. That is the supplier's warning and we are repeating it in full.
