205mm, with the anti-roll top that stops it hitting the floor
Red spirit thermometer, -10 to +110 degrees C in 1 degree increments. 205mm long, 76mm partial immersion, anti-roll top. No mercury.
The anti-roll top is a small moulded collar and it is the whole reason this one survives a school. A round glass tube on a flat bench rolls, and a thermometer that reaches the floor is a thermometer you buy again. The collar stops it.
205mm is the everyday length - short enough for beakers, test tubes and shallow trays, and short enough to fit a standard tray or drawer without the tip sticking out and snapping.
How to read an immersion depth. A partial-immersion thermometer is calibrated to be accurate when the liquid comes up to a marked depth on the stem - 76mm here - not when the whole thing is under. Push it further in or leave it shorter and the reading drifts. It is the single most common reason a class gets three different answers off three identical thermometers.
Red spirit, mercury free, made in the UK.
