One magnifier is a demonstration. Twelve is a nature walk. That is the entire argument for buying a pack: the moment every child has one in their hand, "go and find something interesting" becomes a lesson instead of a queue.
7.5cm is a big lens for small hands - wide enough that a child finds the object without hunting for it, which is the thing that makes cheap little magnifiers so frustrating. The lens is glass, not moulded plastic, so it does not scratch to a fog in a term of pockets and playgrounds.
5x is the right power for this. Higher magnification narrows the field and shortens the working distance until a child is pressing the lens against an ant. At 5x you can hold it comfortably and see a whole leaf, a whole insect, the grain in a piece of bark.
