116 pieces that build a garden and then turn
Colourful gears, flowers, stems, butterflies, bees and ladybugs. 116 pieces. $130.00.
A gear set that looks like a garden gets picked up by children who walk past a gear set. That is not a small point - the engineering content is identical either way, and this version reaches the children who would not have chosen it.
What it actually teaches: that turning one gear turns the next, that adjacent gears turn in opposite directions, and that a small gear driving a big one goes slower. Children discover all three by building rather than being told, because the flowers visibly rotate at different speeds.
Everything is interchangeable, including with other Gears! Gears! Gears! sets - so a school that owns the Robot Factory can combine the two into something much larger than either.
Wiggly stems mean the garden is not flat. Height changes the mechanism as well as the look, which is where the design thinking starts.
The supplier does not publish an age rating for this set. The pieces are chunky construction parts; ask us if you need the manufacturer's rating.
