See-through shells with six textures to feel and sort
EDX Education Translucent Sensory Shells, EDX item code 13842J, is a jar of 36 shells in 6 colours and 6 tactile surfaces, each 5.4cm wide, with an activity guide.
EDX designs the shells so children use three of their five senses, sight, sound and touch, to explore them. The colours are red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple, and EDX recommends them for lightbox play. EDX lists an age range of 18 months to 6 years. A jar of 72 smaller 4cm shells is sold separately under code 13841J.
On a light box, colours glow as light passes through. EDX suggests exploring symmetry, sorting, matching, comparing, patterning and counting. For a feely game, place shells in an opaque bag and ask children to identify each surface by touch. The jar has a lid and carry handle.
Set the shells on a light panel or light box for colour exploration. Browse the EDX Education range, sensory toys, early learning and sensory resources and more maths equipment for hands-on learning at school or home.
