Place value made visible with beads and number tiles
EDX Education Place Value Abacus, EDX item code 26102C, is a place value set of 3 stands, 9 rods, 81 abacus beads and 9 sets of 0 to 9 number tiles.
EDX notes that place value comes into play as soon as a child has to count beyond 9, when the number 10 uses the digits 1 and 0 in a particular order. The abacus lets children build those numbers with beads on rods and match them with number tiles. The distributor lists the set in a sturdy plastic storage container.
EDX describes the abacus as helping children visualise numbers, develop number sense and become proficient in place value. It also supports counting, sorting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and subitising. EDX calls it a tool for hands-on learning, giving children beads and tiles to move as they work.
EDX lists the abacus for ages 5 to 10, for nurseries, kindergartens and home activities. Browse the EDX Education range, more maths equipment, teacher resources and the wider educational supplies catalogue.
