Flexible snap together sticks for exploring flat shapes
The EDX Education Maths Activity Set, EDX code 21366C, is a set of 8 different length flexible sticks that snap together at multiple points for investigating planar geometry.
The distributor, Educational Vantage, describes the set as 8 flexible sticks of different lengths. The sticks snap together at multiple points, which lets students investigate planar geometry. In practice that means joining sticks to form outlines of flat shapes, then changing a joint or a length to see how the shape changes.
Building a shape by hand makes sides, angles and joins concrete before students draw them. Different lengths let learners compare sides and test which combinations close into a shape. Because the sticks are flexible and reconnect at several points, one set supports many attempts in a lesson.
Eight snap together sticks give students a hands-on way into flat shapes and their sides. Explore more shape resources in the EDX Education range, add maths equipment, find drawing tools in rulers and geometry, or browse teacher resources.
