An Earth Tone For Skin, Timber And Landscape
Derwent 3206000 is Burnt Yellow Ochre, one of the earth colours in the Derwent Artists range, and this listing is a box of 6 pencils.
Earth colours sit underneath a lot of realistic drawing. An ochre warms a skin tone, gives weathered timber its colour, and turns a paddock or a sandstone wall from flat yellow into something that looks sunlit. Artists who draw people, animals or the Australian landscape often go through their ochres quickly, which is where a box of the single colour earns its place. Each barrel reads Burnt Yellow Ochre 6000 in gold.
ACCO list a round barrel in the Artists aquamarine, a double-dipped end, and a large diameter strip that gives broad strokes and strong lines. They describe the texture as slightly waxed, which helps when layering the ochre over or under other colours.
