Derwent 3202500 is Dark Violet from the Derwent Artists pencil range, supplied as a box of 6 of the same colour.
A dark violet does more work than its name suggests. Laid under greens and browns it cools a shadow without turning it grey, and on its own it carries night skies, irises, plums and bruised storm clouds. Because it tends to run short ahead of lighter colours, a box of one shade lets you top up a set rather than replace it. Each barrel is marked Dark Violet 2500, so pencils can be sorted back into place after a lesson or a job.
According to ACCO, the strip has a large diameter for broad strokes and firm lines, and its slightly waxed texture blends and shades without effort. The barrel is round, in the aquamarine Artists livery, and finished with a double-dipped end in violet.
